Suspect charged with charging at officers with a knife

SUMMARY: 44-year-old Dartanion Jovan Chandler has been charged with attempted aggravated assault on police officers and a civilian after lunging at them with a knife. Gulfport Police arrested Chandler after encountering him acting erratically in the street and he charged their vehicle with a knife. Chandler faces two counts of attempted aggravated assault on a police officer, one count of attempted aggravated assault, and two misdemeanor charges of malicious mischief. His bond is set at $750,000 for the attempted aggravated assault charges. After Chandler’s arrest, a civilian also claimed that Chandler tried to charge him with a knife.
