Suspect arrested after man’s remains found inside burned Mississippi home

SUMMARY: In Smith County, Miss., human remains were found inside a burned home on May 3, 2024. The homeowner, Frank Black, was unaccounted for and later identified as the remains. The Fire Marshal's Office and Smith County investigators collected evidence. Billy Black was initially questioned and for an unrelated burglary on May 13, 2024. Continued investigations led to his charges of first-degree arson and first-degree murder on June 18, 2024.
