Supreme Court declines to hear appeal from Mississippi death row inmate

His ongoing appeal in federal court includes claims of racial bias in jury selection, as he was sentenced by an all-white jury, and challenges to forensic testimony used against him. Galloway maintains that had his background been presented, a life sentence could have been secured instead of death.

SUMMARY: Cristian Mitchel Mondragon Gonzales, 29, pleaded guilty to second-degree murder related to a 2018 homicide on the Natchez Trace Parkway. Following a fight at a party on September 23, 2018, Gonzales pursued the victim, convincing him to go for a ride. He then shot the victim multiple times after they exited the vehicle. The victim was found the next morning. Gonzales faces a maximum penalty of life in prison and is scheduled for sentencing on February 12, 2025. The case was investigated by the FBI, Natchez Trace Parkway police, and Ridgeland police.
