SUMMARY: Calmer weather has returned to Central Alabama following the impact of 16 unconfirmed tornadoes. Many residents took shelter promptly, responding well to the warnings. The National Weather Service is assessing the damage paths, which include areas like Bostic, Gordo, Lake Tuscaloosa, Elrod, Sipsey, Clanton, and parts of Greene and Sumter counties. Some areas received heavy rainfall, totaling 3 to 5 inches, but that has now passed. The forecast indicates quiet weather ahead, with additional rain and mild storms expected Wednesday night into Thursday, although they are not anticipated to be severe.
