Faith Time: Small Groups Part I
SUMMARY: David Kagel from Downtown Church discussed the importance of small groups in fostering deeper community within the church. He highlighted the distinction between large corporate gatherings and smaller contexts of community, noting biblical references that emphasize the significance of both. While large gatherings are valuable, small groups allow for deeper connections and enable members to support one another through the 59 “one another” texts in the New Testament, which promote encouragement and accountability. Small groups can enhance relationships with God and the church, especially during stagnant periods in one’s faith journey, encouraging members to inspire each other toward growth and good deeds.

Very Warm Sunday, Slightly Cooler for the Work Week: Saturday Evening Forecast 10/26/2024
SUMMARY: Meteorologist Grant Skinner reports a low chance of tropical development in the southwestern Caribbean, as disorganized showers and thunderstorms drift north. Current long-term models suggest no threats to the Gulf Coast, but changes are possible. Meanwhile, record warmth continues, with today‘s high reaching 90ยฐF, the latest 90ยฐF on record since 1872. Tomorrow remains warm at 89ยฐF, cooling slightly Monday and Tuesday. Clear skies are expected, with no rain in sight, though a low risk for rip currents will increase into next week. By midweek, some moisture may bring brief showers and cloud cover, but significant rainfall isn’t anticipated.
It was another day with record warmth as highs pushed into the upper-80’s. Mostly Clear skies will continue through tonight, and lows by Sunday morning will sit at around 60ยฐ. Sunday will bring more of the same with highs in the upper-80’s. The front that was expected to pass during the day will likely stall to the north, but cooler air will move into the area next week. Rip current risk will remain low for the weekend but will increase to moderate by Monday and high by Tuesday. We will have limited rain chances over the next week, but highs will cool into the low-80’s by Tuesday. A switch to a southeasterly wind by Wednesday will bring extra clouds and more humid conditions, and a brief shower is possible Wednesday. This moisture increase will warm our morning lows into the mid-60’s through next Friday. The tropics remain quiet!
