Sturgill Simpson, now going by Johnny Blue Skies, has announced a new album and tour. The Kentucky-born artist, known for his country-psychedelic fusion, declared he would release albums only under his new name after five under his birthname. His first album as Johnny Blue Skies, Passage Du Desire, will release on July 12 via High Top Mountain Records. He previously trialed the Johnny Blue Skies name on a collaboration with Diplo and Dove Cameron. His 30-stop “Why Not? Tour” kicks off Aug. 11 in San Francisco and reaches Mississippi on Oct. 4, with tickets available from June 14.
