The soccer team’s general manager argued that the shared name would hinder marketing efforts. Following a two-day courtroom hearing, a Texas judge sided with the soccer team. Ultimately, both teams struggled, with the women’s team folding within a year and the soccer team ceasing after three seasons. This unique rivalry is now the focus of a documentary debuting at River Oaks Theater.

The Herricanes claimed the Hurricane was informed of the Herricanes before the name Hurricane was chosen by the fans.

Punishing rushing attack leads Texas to berth in Peach Bowl with 38-24 win over Clemson
