Stormy weather moving out
SUMMARY: On September 1st, Chief Meteorologist Jay Cardosi reported that a final wave of storms is moving through the area, with the severe weather threat ending for the metropolitan region. While light to moderate rain and some lightning remain, severe thunderstorm warnings are active in parts of eastern Shelby County and nearby areas. Storms that began in Illinois are expected to clear out by early evening, with lingering showers possible afterward. The weather will quiet down overnight, leading to low 70s temperatures. The pattern will shift to primarily dry weather with temperatures rising into the 90s next week.

Feeding America, Kentucky’s Heartland names new board member
SUMMARY: Feeding America, Kentucky’s Heartland has appointed Martha Steil from Christian County to its Board of Directors for a six-year term. Steil, a Kentucky resident since 2003, holds degrees from New York University and the University of Wisconsin-Madison. Currently the human resources director at United Southern Bank, she brings experience from her previous roles in human resources at Propulsys, Inc. and Lourdes Hospital. Executive Director Charles Dennis praised her passion for community service, citing her involvement with the Aaron McNeil House. Stuck in the deep freeze Wednesday
SUMMARY: As the week ends, frigid temperatures linger, with morning lows at 4°F but feeling like -8°F due to wind. Some areas drop below zero, while afternoon highs reach 29°F. Tomorrow, expect a high of 34°F with flurries and another front bringing lows in the teens and highs near 30°F. Though still below the normal high of 44°F, temperatures will rise to 47°F by Tuesday, with a trend toward more seasonal weather and potential above-normal temperatures in the long run. Hank Plona says Julius Thedford is not ruled out for rest of season after injury
SUMMARY: WKU men’s basketball freshman guard Julius Thedford suffered a knee injury during a 71-57 loss to MTSU, dislocating his kneecap and tearing a ligament. Although the injury doesn’t require surgery, it will need rehab. Head coach Hank Plona remains optimistic, stating Thedford could return later this season, though he is expected to miss a couple of weeks.
