Storm damage in Summerdale, Grove Hill
SUMMARY: Following severe storms, extensive damage has been reported in Clark County, particularly in Grove Hill. Debris, including a demolished business roof and toppled power lines, litter the area. The local US Bank sign is significantly damaged as well. In Mobile County, tornado-related damage is evident in the Georgetown Community with flooding, downed trees, and a tilted stop sign. In Summerdale, strong winds removed a home’s porch and caused similar destruction. Baldwin EMC crews are working to restore power, while vehicles in Tilman’s Corner suffered flooding. A lightning strike was also reported at Pinebrook apartments during the storms.
Strong storms damaged homes and buildings in Baldwin and Clarke Counties Saturday night into Sunday morning.

Drier and Cooler to End 2024, Seasonable New Year’s Day: Tuesday Evening Forecast 12/31/2024
SUMMARY: Meteorologist Grant Skinner reports a cold front that will keep temperatures seasonable in the coming days. Another front is expected to bring frigid conditions next week, starting Sunday into Monday, with lows dropping into the 20s. While it’s too early to predict wintry precipitation, the second half of next week will be notably cold. Currently, conditions are dry and cooler across the region, with temperatures around 60°F in Mobile and Northwest Florida. New Year’s Eve festivities will see temperatures drop into the low 50s by 11 p.m. Tomorrow, expect dry conditions, a high of 60°F, and continued sunshine.
We will end 2024 with clear and cooling conditions across the Gulf Coast! For your New Year’s Eve plans, temperatures will be dropping into the 40’s tonight with some inland spots sitting in the upper-30’s. Rain chances stay out of the picture into New Year’s Day and Thursday as well. Highs over the next couple of days will push to around 60°. Another front will pass on Friday, so a brief shower is possible overnight Thursday and into Friday. Lows stay at around 40 Thursday night. Friday’s front will keep things dry and cooler for most of the weekend, but another front will approach the area Sunday bringing a chance for showers and storms Sunday into Monday. Very cold air will move in behind that front with lows dropping into the 20’s and 30’s for multiple days with highs at around 50.

Severe Storms Possible Saturday Evening through Early Sunday: Friday Evening Forecast 12/27/2024
SUMMARY: A soggy afternoon with strong storms has brought the possibility of tornadoes and gusty winds, with three tornado warnings issued across the area. The storms, particularly west of I-65, are expected to weaken later tonight, though strong storms remain in parts of Green, Washington, and Clark Counties. A storm near Citronelle is being closely monitored for rotation. Severe weather threats will persist into Saturday, with damaging winds, hail, and possible tornadoes, especially in northwestern areas. A 70% chance of rain continues tomorrow, increasing through the evening into Sunday. By the end of next week, cooler weather is expected.
