‘Dangerous’ Hurricane Beryl takes aim at Windward Islands, Tropical Storm Chris bringing heavy rain, flooding to Mexico
SUMMARY: The National Hurricane Center is monitoring Hurricane Beryl, Tropical Storm Chris, and a new tropical wave. Hurricane Beryl, a dangerous Category 3 storm with 120 mph winds, is approaching the Windward Islands. Warnings are in effect for Barbados, St. Lucia, St. Vincent, Grenada, and Tobago. Tropical Storm Chris is causing heavy rainfall and flooding in eastern Mexico with winds near 40 mph and is expected to dissipate by Monday. Additionally, the center is observing a potential tropical depression west-southwest of the Cabo Verde Islands with a 70% chance of formation within seven days, moving westward across the Atlantic.
