Starkville standoff ends with man being charged with kidnapping

SUMMARY: A standoff in Starkville ended early Thursday morning with the arrest of 33-year-old Tyrez Wade and the rescue of a 4-year-old child. The Starkville Police responded to reports of an armed conflict outside the Brookville Garden apartments around 2:22 a.m. Upon arrival, Wade fled into a unit, barricading himself with the child. After two hours of negotiation, SWAT successfully intervened, rescuing the child unharmed and apprehending Wade. He faces charges kidnapping, domestic violence, and disorderly conduct, and is currently held at the Oktibbeha County Jail.
