Starkville seeking more security cameras

Currently, the Starkville Police Department has 34 cameras around the city, but they are requesting 41 additional cameras and two new staff members to monitor them, totaling over $350,000. These cameras, which run 24/7, enhance crime response and accident scenes by capturing details often missed by eyewitnesses. Police Chief Mark Ballard highlights an instance where a fight in the Cotton District went unnoticed due to insufficient officers and non-reporting by the public. More cameras would improve safety and response times.

The Starkville Police Department is asking for 41 new security cameras and two new staff members to monitor those cameras.
