SUMMARY: Starkville restaurants and hotels are now allowed to provide go cups for patrons to take their drinks on the go. This initiative was recently launched by Visit Starkville, with branded cups featuring the city’s logo and a QR code for more information about the Entertainment District. Starkville passed an ordinance in 2020 allowing licensed premises to have open containers of alcohol in designated areas. Director of Tourism Paige Hunt hopes the branded cups will help raise awareness about this ordinance, which has been in effect for years but many people are unaware of. This allows patrons to enjoy alcoholic drinks in the designated Leisure and Recreation District.
