St. Louis forecast: Gusty winds today and tonight

After morning rain, the region is drying up, though clouds remain in places like Chesterfield. Rainfall totals range from 0.5 to 0.76 inches in several locations. Winds are picking up, with gusts up to 40 mph expected this afternoon and evening. Isolated thunderstorms are possible from 7 p.m. to midnight, weakening as they move eastward. A cold front will bring colder air and continued gusty winds for Wednesday and Thursday. There’s a low risk of severe weather in some areas, particularly near Rala.

FEMA extends deadline for July flooding assistance applications
SUMMARY: Months after last July’s severe flooding in the Metro East, many residents still need aid. FEMA has extended the application deadline to December 13 for online and phone applications. In-person assistance is available at the Kokia Heights Fitness Center until this Friday. Over $14 million has been distributed to more than 28,000 households across seven counties, with significant aid for St. Clair County. Many residents are encouraged to document their damages for easier processing. Washington County received federal support for the first time, and both individuals and small businesses are urged to apply for financial assistance.
Homeowners and renters who suffered damage or loss from July flooding have additional time to apply for federal disaster assistance. FEMA has extended the application deadline to Dec. 13, 2024, for residents in Cook, Fulton, Henry, St. Clair, Washington, Will and Winnebago counties.

Families forced out of Arnold apartments deemed unsafe

Judy Garland’s iconic ‘Meet Me in St. Louis’ attire on display
SUMMARY: Two iconic pieces of Hollywood memorabilia, Judy Garland’s red dress and white coat from the 1944 film “Meet Me in St. Louis,” are on display together for the first time in 80 years at the Missouri History Museum in Forest Park.
