St. Charles deputy accused of shooting, killing man with mental illness in Hahnville, family says

Witnesses on scene who identify as family say Charles Verdin, 56, was shot and killed by a deputy.

The family tells WDSU that Verdin had a mental illness, and was followed home by the deputy where he was later shot 30 to 40 times.

Family confirms that Verdin is dead.
