SPLC educates USM students on voting
SUMMARY: The Southern Poverty Law Center visited the campus of USM to educate students about the power of their vote. The visit was part of the “Activate” initiative, which aims to bridge the gap between the arts and voter engagement. The Center recently released a comic book called “Dream Defenders” to inform voters of any changes or obstacles they may face when going to the polls. The Center hopes to get students energized and informed about the importance of their voice and vote. They are holding a town hall meeting at the Joe Paul Theater where guests can register to vote and grab a t-shirt.
The visit was a part of the center’s “Activate” initiative. The initiative focuses on building voter engagement and activism through the arts.

Lamar County already has plan for state dollars to be invested in industrial park

Duo from Puerto Rico ready to bring some island spice to USM basketball court this season
