Special Olympics staged fall games at Camp Shelby
SUMMARY: More than 500 athletes recently competed in team softball, cornhole, croquet, horseshoes, and soccer skills at the annual Fall Games for the Mississippi Special Olympics. In addition to the sporting events, there were also general health screenings and information provided about hydration and nutrition. The events concluded with a dance.

Colorado couple suspected of homicide caught in Mississippi | Colorado
SUMMARY: Johnny Rankin Morris, 46, and Hailey Diane Cole, 43, wanted in Colorado for a missing persons case and possible homicide, were arrested in Pearl River County, Mississippi. They were captured following a tip about a potential vehicle break-in. Colorado authorities had warned that both were considered armed and dangerous after discovering large quantities of blood at a residence related to a Dec. 19 incident. A deceased man was found in a nearby welfare check, linked to the missing persons case. Morris and Cole are also charged with commercial and attempted residential burglary, while another suspect, Stephen Walker, remains missing.

Severe weather event impacts Friday and Saturday
SUMMARY: Expect two days of impactful weather. Today, a low-pressure system will bring 1 to 2 inches of rain, with potential strong storms in counties south and east, while the metro area likely remains dry around noon. Highs will be in the lower 70s, with breezy and humid conditions. Tomorrow brings another round of severe weather, particularly north of Interstate 20, with tornado and damaging wind threats possible, alongside flash flooding and hail. The weekend’s first part will be wet, but it will dry out by New Year’s Eve. Expect a significant temperature drop as the new year begins.
