Special Election happening in Maben after Alderman resigns
SUMMARY: Voters in Maen will soon participate in a special election following the resignation of Alderman Robert Herd, effective June 3rd. The board of aldermen accepted his resignation on Sunday, thanked him for his years of service, and declared his seat vacant earlier this week. The special election is scheduled for August 13th.

Petal police continuing investigation into deadly early-morning shooting
SUMMARY: An investigation is underway in Pedal following an early morning shooting that left 27-year-old Bernell Gold dead. Around 3:15 a.m., a woman reported to Pedal Police that her ex-boyfriend was banging on her door. After he forced his way inside, another man in the home shot him. Gold later died at the hospital. The Forest County Coroner identified the deceased, and no arrests have been made yet. The investigation continues.
