SpaceX Falcon 9 grounded after landing mishap
SUMMARY: SpaceX is grounded again by the FAA following the explosion of a Falcon 9 booster during landing on a drone ship after a Starlink launch. This incident is the second grounding in a month, jeopardizing upcoming crewed missions like the Polaris Dawn mission, which was canceled due to weather safety concerns. SpaceX had previously successfully reused the booster 23 times, but the explosion raises safety and operational concerns amid their busy schedule with multiple missions. Experts stress the need for more diversity in launch providers to mitigate industry risks, especially since NASA heavily relies on SpaceX for launches.
What was supposed to be a historic week for SpaceX ended in setbacks, after a Falcon 9 rocket booster burst into flames off the coast of Florida. All Falcon 9’s are now grounded after an anomaly overnight.

SUMMARY: A winter storm in the South caused school closures, power outages, and flight disruptions. By Sunday, warmer weather helped melt snow and ice, with power restored in parts of North and South Carolina. In Atlanta, 1,000 flights were delayed or canceled, but by Sunday morning, roads, parking lots, and runways were cleared. Power was restored to 97% of Georgia Power customers. The storm, which brought heavy snow and freezing rain, impacted Texas, Oklahoma, Arkansas, and other areas. Some places, including schools and churches, remained closed as icy conditions persisted, while the weather slowly improved.
