‘Southern Six’ sees plenty of talent sign D-I deals
SUMMARY: On National Signing Day, top high school football talents from the “Southern Six” made their college decisions. Picayune stars Jamonta Waller and Chris Davis signed with Auburn and Stanford, respectively, after leading their team to state championships. Waller, a standout edge rusher, switched his commitment from Florida to Auburn, while Davis, the top-rated Mississippi running back, chose Stanford for its academic and athletic excellence. Other notable signings included Moss Point’s Noreel White to Ole Miss, Pascagoula’s Jeffery Rush to an undisclosed school, and Gulfport’s Nico Williams to Southeastern Louisiana. The Bradford brothers from St. Stanislaus also secured Division I scholarships. Coach Cody Stogner praised Waller and Davis for their pivotal roles in Picayune’s success.
