SUMMARY: The Crimson Tide opens against Western Kentucky on August 31st. Fred McNair, one of the greatest coaches in Alcorn State’s history, has joined Southern’s staff as the new tight ends coach. He initially pursued a position at Texas Southern, but after back-and-forth discussions, TSU chose another direction. Southern’s new head coach, Terrence Graves, brought McNair on board. Graves is in his first year as head coach and previously learned from Alcorn State legend Marino Casem. Graves values having experienced coaches on his staff and sees McNair as a significant asset.

The Southern Jaguars have a new head coach in Terrence Graves. He will be a first year head coach in the SWAC but he’s made key moves in terms of forming his staff. The big addition was former SWAC Champion coach Fred McNair from Alcorn State. Fred had a wild off-season while trying to obtain the Texas Southern job after that fell through he landed on the staff of the Jaguars.
