Former officer charged in crash that killed beloved cyclist
SUMMARY: A former police officer has been charged in the death of Bob Blanchard, an 83-year-old cyclist from Bradenton, who was killed while biking across the country in June. Blanchard had just reached a personal milestone of 200,000 miles when he was struck by the driver in Bay County, Michigan. The driver, charged with a misdemeanor that may carry a one-year sentence, claims to have been distracted by a dashboard alert.
