SUMMARY: The Jackson Storage Center on Highway 18 has caught fire for the second time in recent months, with the call coming in at 6 a.m. Monday. The previous fire in September damaged 25% of the building, and firefighters faced difficulties extinguishing the blaze due to the building’s tin construction and hard-to-access areas. It took three days to fully contain the earlier fire, which was determined to have been intentionally set. The cause of the current fire is still under investigation, and no injuries have been reported. Firefighters and AMR are actively working to put out the flames.

The incident occurred late Friday or early Saturday when Carter’s car hit a tree, splitting in half and catching fire, resulting in her death. Controversy arose when a police cruiser reportedly passed the crash scene without stopping; Chief Joseph Wade mentioned the possibility of a pursuit but emphasized the need for accountability for the officers’ actions and inactions. The officers have been placed on administrative leave, and the victim’s family has expressed appreciation for the transparency in the investigation.
