Solar and wind generation continue to grow
SUMMARY: Texas remains a leader in solar and wind energy, ranking second in solar generation in 2024, behind California, and leading the nation in wind energy. Solar and wind combined accounted for 17% of U.S. electricity generation in 2024, a significant increase from 2015. Texas generated 30% of its electricity from clean sources, with wind power making up 28% of the nation’s total. Solar and wind energy now power millions of homes and are key to meeting rising electricity demand while reducing pollutants. This growth has also driven the creation of clean energy jobs, adding 149,000 positions in 2024.
