SNAP replacement benefits available for Mississippians affected by April 9 storms
SUMMARY: Households in Mississippi affected by the April 9 storms that caused power outages lasting over six hours can request a replacement of SNAP benefits. If food purchased with SNAP benefits was destroyed due to a disaster like a flood, fire, or severe weather, households may also receive a replacement of benefits. The Mississippi Department of Human Services will provide replacement benefits up to the amount of the loss, not exceeding the maximum SNAP benefits for that month. To request replacement benefits, households must report the disaster within ten days to their local MDHS office and can submit a form online, by mail, or email. Assistance is available by contacting the Economic Assistance Customer Service Center.
