Skydweller launches summer program to help high school students develop interests in STEM
SUMMARY: Sky Dwellers Aerospace Engineering is encouraging young people to pursue STEM careers through a new summer camp. Recent Hancock High School graduate Xander McGarity joined the program to enhance his learning skills and found a strong interest in aerodynamics, particularly learning about the solar-powered, self-controlling Sky Dweller aircraft. Along with peers, he is learning basic engineering at Pearl River Community College and building wooden gliders. The program is supported by a small business grant from the Hancock County Chamber of Commerce. Students are also creating solar-powered mobile phone chargers, providing practical knowledge. McGarity aims for an internship and plans to apply his skills at the US Naval Academy.

Skydweller is working to teach students about the nuts and bolts of aerodynamics as well as designing planes.
