SUMMARY: Heavy rains and rising river waters have led to flooding in downstream Bangladesh. In Madison County, an attempted traffic stop resulted in the arrest of four 18-year-old males. Constable Richard “Taco” Johnson initiated the stop on Nissan Parkway, but a black Dodge Charger fled, nearly striking a sheriff’s deputy during the chase. The driver eventually lost control, crashing into a ditch near Highway 51 and Hard Times Road. The suspects attempted to escape but were apprehended and face multiple charges, including possession of a controlled substance with a firearm and resisting arrest, with the driver also charged with aggravated assault on an officer.

Four teenagers were taken into custody after a vehicle failed to stop for police.

Camp director Kevin Batista emphasized the personal benefits he’s gained from baseball and the importance of providing kids with memorable experiences. With over 25 years as an educator, he believes unifying baseball and learning fosters community engagement and enjoyment, creating a vibrant “Braves Country” atmosphere that energizes local ballparks. The event included food, fire trucks, and music for attendees.

The Atlanta Braves organization is still maintaining their presence in the Jackson metro area despite their minor league M-Braves franchise leaving the state. The Braves hosted a baseball clinic this weekend in Jackson to pour into the youth.
