Simpson County community comes together after fatal bridge collapse
SUMMARY: On October 16, a tragic bridge collapse on State Route 149 in Simpson County, Mississippi, left several construction workers trapped and led to multiple fatalities. Emergency responders quickly arrived, with the sheriff’s office and local firefighters, including D’Lo Mayor John Berry, coordinating rescue and recovery efforts. Survivors were safely evacuated within half an hour, but recovery operations took much longer. Sheriff Paul Mullins expressed the emotional toll on responders, highlighting community support during this crisis. The cause of the collapse is currently under investigation, with additional aid from various state agencies.

SUMMARY: A Delta Air Lines flight from Minneapolis to Toronto flipped over while landing at Pearson Airport on February 17, 2025.
