SUMMARY: Severe weather is expected in New Orleans on Saturday, with the potential for tornadoes, strong winds, and storms. A powerful upper-level low system will bring instability, with storms likely to intensify after noon and peak by mid-afternoon. While the tornado risk is higher to the east, the region may experience isolated, rotating storms capable of producing tornadoes. Wind gusts up to 70 mph are possible. The storm will move out by Saturday evening, leaving clear skies for Sunday’s festivities. Temperatures will warm up to near 80°F by Wednesday, with a cold front cooling things down by next Thursday.

Chief Meteorologist Chris Franklin says there’s a higher than normal threat for strong winds and tornadoes on Saturday, while Sunday looks beautiful.
