Sheriff reports backup at crime lab, says body found to be sent next week

SUMMARY: The Tennessee Valley Authority (TVA) hosted an open house to discuss proposed transmission system improvements in the Golden Triangle area. Shane Beasley, TVA’s transmission siting manager, announced plans for an 18-mile power line from Clay to Artesia, aimed at enhancing transmission capacity and reliability to support the region’s residential and commercial growth. The event allowed community members to interact with decision-makers and express concerns about the project, including easement payments and structure designs. TVA is currently gathering input, with a preferred route decision expected in Spring 2025 and an anticipated service start date in 2028.
TVA held an open house at the Civic in West Point to hear the community’s thoughts and concerns about their proposed transmission system improvements project.

Alzheimer’s Awareness Month
SUMMARY: In recognition of Alzheimer’s Awareness Month, 12 News highlighted the Alzheimer’s Association and its impact in Mississippi. According to 2024 statistics, nearly 60,000 individuals aged 65 and older are affected by Alzheimer’s in the state. The disease is increasingly prevalent among younger individuals under 65. Early warning signs include memory loss, difficulty with familiar tasks, and problems with speech or vision. The Alzheimer’s Association offers a 24/7 helpline and support services for caregivers.
