Senate passes a $95.3 billion aid package for Ukraine and Israel, but fate in the House is uncertain
SUMMARY: The Senate passed a $95.3 billion aid package for Ukraine, Israel, and Taiwan. The bill faces an uncertain future in the House due to opposition from some Republicans, including those aligned with former President Donald Trump. The aid aims to support Ukraine against Russian aggression, assist Israel’s war with Hamas, and counter China’s influence in the Indo-Pacific. The bill’s passage was a win for Senate leaders and Ukraine, but it faces opposition in the House. The aid package also includes funding for humanitarian assistance in Gaza. The bill’s passage was marked by difficult negotiations and political divisions within the Republican Party.
