Seabee Base holds 32nd Change of Command
SUMMARY: In a ceremony on July 28, Capt. Ana Franco took over from Capt. Jeffrey Powell as the 33rd commanding officer of Naval Construction Battalion Center (NCBC) Gulfport. Franco was previously stationed in Gulfport from 2014 to 2018, and spent the past several years in Washington D.C.. Powell, who was in command since August 2020, faced numerous challenges, such as dealing with the COVID-19 pandemic and recovery from powerful hurricane seasons. Immediately following the command change, Powell retired, ending his 28-year naval career. NCBC Gulfport, also known as the “Seabee base,” is Gulfport’s largest employer.
