Scattered Showers Sunday, More Showers to Start the Work Week: Saturday Evening Forecast 9/14/2024

SUMMARY: Tropical storm is moving west in the Atlantic but does not threaten the Coast. Another non-tropical low near Georgia may develop subtropical characteristics, posing a medium for heavy rain and gusty winds along the East Coast. The remnants of tropical storm Francine will bring isolated flash flooding risks to parts of the region, especially northern . Tomorrow, a 40% chance of showers and storms is expected, leading to cooler temperatures in the mid-80s. Rain chances will persist into early next before drier arrives, raising temperatures again toward the week’s end.

Isolated showers will be possible into this evening, and brief showers will be possible overnight. Lows will sit at around 70 degrees with partly cloudy skies. Sunday will stay with morning isolated showers, and they will become a bit more scattered into the afternoon and evening. Thanks to extra clouds and shower chances, highs will only reach into the mid-80’s for most spots. This is thanks to an area of low pressure that was Francine and an associated boundary diving south closer to the 5 area. They will bring higher rain chances for Monday and more scattered showers and a few brief storms for Tuesday as well. Rain chances will slowly drop late Tuesday and into Thursday as the front moves offshore. Highs will sit in the low- to mid-80’s through Wednesday before warming back to more seasonable temperatures by the . In the tropics, we continue to track Gordon and one other area. Gordon is a tropical storm and is several hundred miles east of the Windward and Leeward Islands. It will see fluctuations in strength and will eventually move north. It does not pose a threat to our area. The other area to watch is off the coast of GA and the Carolinas. It could form subtropical characteristics or become a depression before pushing inland, but regardless it will bring windy conditions to that area as well as rough and downpours. It also does not pose a threat.

“Arti Gras” aims to improve small Mobile park

SUMMARY: Huntsville is one away from runoff elections, specifically for District One voters. This Thursday marks the last day for in-person absentee . Voters should visit the Clerk’s office for assistance. Additionally, absentee ballots must be hand-delivered by the end of the business day on Monday, September 23rd. The election will take place on Tuesday, where will be elected for the District One Huntsville City School Board. Make sure to be prepared to participate in the upcoming election.
