Saturday in-person absentee voting for GOP runoff in District 2 begins this week
SUMMARY: Mississippi’s District 2 has an upcoming congressional primary runoff on April 2. Republicans Ron Eller, a cardiothoracic physician assistant with a platform focused on education, economics, and energy, and Andrew Smith, an insurance agent advocating for infrastructure and job creation, are competing to oppose Democrat Bennie Thompson in November. Thompson is seeking his 16th term. In-person absentee voting is available on the next two Saturdays. Only residents who voted Republican or didn’t vote in the primary can participate in the runoff. The runoff can be a steppingstone for either Eller or Smith into the political arena.
