SUMMARY: In the Sarah Boon suitcase murder trial, a jury has been selected after four days of proceedings. The case revolves around Boon, accused of zipping her boyfriend, George Torres, in a suitcase and leaving him to die during a drunken game. The prosecution argues she cannot claim self-defense as no immediate threat was present after she had already confined him. The defense intends to use the battered spouse syndrome, citing prior abuse Torres inflicted on Boon. Opening statements are set to begin tomorrow. In a lighter note, Boon’s request for courtroom snacks was denied.

In the wake of Hamas’ deadly Oct. 7 attack, many Israelis, including politicians from various parties, have shown openness to the idea, which was previously considered fringe. Despite its controversial nature and significant logistical, moral, and legal challenges, the concept now enjoys a platform in Israeli discourse. Opponents, including liberal Israelis, argue against the legitimacy of such forced displacement, stressing that it violates international law and humanitarian standards.
