Salvation Army’s Angel Tree Program with Major Jerry Friday
SUMMARY: Runners participating in an event were invited to stay and enjoy the aquarium and brighten the holidays by supporting the Salvation Army’s Angel Tree program. Dave Elliott spoke with Major Jerry Friday about aiding those in need along the coast. They discussed the annual drive and how to help, highlighting that many applicants are already receiving assistance and automatically qualify. Donors can choose an “angel” representing a child’s wishes and provide gifts, often including popular items like bicycles and dolls. The gifts are distributed across several locations on the coast, typically by the third week of December. Major Jerry Friday explained the importance of equal gift distribution among siblings, ensuring fairness. The successful partnership between the event and the Salvation Army emphasizes community support during the holiday season.
