Salvation Army Tupelo collecting bottled water for shelter cooling station
SUMMARY: The Salvation Army in Tupelo has opened its hot weather shelter to assist those suffering from the heat, ensuring everyone stays hydrated. Volunteers have collected over 40 pounds of bottled water to support the three-month initiative. This effort provides cold water to people experiencing homelessness or others in need within Tupelo. Contributions can be made at their Carnation Street location, Monday through Friday, from 8:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. This initiative is vital in helping individuals cope with the soaring temperatures.

2 people in custody after apartment shooting
SUMMARY: A front will pass tomorrow, but in developing news, there was a shooting this afternoon at the Park at Inverness apartment complex. Jackson Police reported that around 1 PM, multiple suspects were involved in a shootout, damaging cars and buildings. Two people of interest have since been taken into custody.

Tenth annual “AD 47 Leadership Academy” a success
