Saltillo Fire responds to flooding in subdivision
SUMMARY: Residents of the Willow Creek subdivision are drying out after severe flash flooding forced several evacuations. WTV's Jake White reports that the area frequently floods during heavy rains, frustrating many residents. The Fire Department issued a mandatory evacuation due to electrical risks inside homes. Chief Chris Jenkins described the flood as one of the worst he's seen, comparable to the 2019 flood, with over 10 homes affected. The city provided a community center for displaced residents. Mayor Copi Grantham announced a $1 million culvert project aimed at preventing future flooding, expected to be completed by summer. More details will follow on WTV 9 News.
Saltillo residents were forced out of their homes due to flooding on Wednesday, and it isn't the first time in this particular area.

SUMMARY: Tropical Storm Beryl has formed, with max winds of 40 mph and moving westward at 18 mph. It may develop into the first hurricane of the season due to favorable conditions like low wind shear and warm waters. Forecasts show the storm continuing west towards the Caribbean, potentially reaching Jamaica, but high pressure could block its path towards the Gulf of Mexico. Temperatures are currently in the 70s and 80s with high humidity, making it feel much hotter. Heat advisories are in effect, with temperatures expected to feel like 105-110°F this weekend. Some rain relief is possible, but heat will dominate.
