Menge Avenue overpass reopens after 16 months as Buc-ee’s construction continues
SUMMARY: The newly built M Avenue overpass has reopened, ending a 16-month detour for local commuters like Jennifer Northrup. While some residents celebrate the convenience, concerns arise about increased traffic and changes to the area’s small-town vibe, particularly with the anticipated opening of Bies, an anchor business. Matt and Annette McBride are excited as the bridge brings them closer to Bies, which they hope will attract more visitors. To support this development, Harrison County issued a $15 million bond and a $5 million TIF agreement for area improvements. Bies is now expected to open in late spring or early summer instead of December.
The Menge Avenue overpass reopened Monday afternoon after being closed for 16 months.

Overnight closures on I-10 in Harrison County to last for a month
SUMMARY: Work is restarting near Shriner’s Boulevard in Harrison County, specifically at the I-10 Woolmarket exit, focusing on roundabouts. The project will involve nightly closures from 7 p.m. to 5 a.m. Sunday through Thursday for the next four weeks. These closures are due to the continuation of work that was paused in September due to safety concerns. Concrete barriers have been added to enhance safety. During the closures, drivers will need to use alternative routes, either the Cedar Lake or Cowan-Lorraine exits. The closures will occur each weeknight for the next month.
Starting Sunday, November 17, the Mississippi Department of Transportation will close Exit 41 on I-10 for about four weeks.
