Saints fall to shorthanded Vikings 27-19 as Carr leaves with injury

Mississippi artists can win $2,000 prize, be featured in state’s largest art festival
SUMMARY: Mississippi artists aged 21 and older have the chance to win $2,000 and be spotlighted at the state's largest art festival through the Blue Moon Art Project contest. Participants are required to submit a contemporary, museum-quality canvas (24″ x 36″) without beer bottles or text, inspired by the Blue Moon beer brand. Applications can be downloaded from the Peter Anderson Festival website and must be submitted with the artwork by October 4 at the Ocean Springs Chamber Main Street offices. The Peter Anderson Arts & Crafts Festival will occur in downtown Ocean Springs on November 2-3.

Mississippi earns Silver Shovel Award for recent economic development projects

Mississippi has been honored with the prestigious Silver Shovel Award from Area Development magazine for outstanding economic development initiatives. The state won in the “fewer than 3 million population” category due to innovative policies that create jobs and attract businesses. Murder suspect arrested following manhunt in Harrison County
SUMMARY: A manhunt in Harrison County concluded with the arrest of Bricen John Rivers, charged with one count of murder. Deputies responded to Wolf River Cemetery, where they found Rivers running into the woods. A deceased woman, 22-year-old Lauren Johansen of Gulfport, was found in the vehicle Rivers fled from. Johansen, reported missing July 2, attended school in Hattiesburg. Multiple law enforcement agencies assisted in the search, ultimately locating Rivers and arresting him. He is held at Harrison County Adult Detention Facility on a $1 million bond.
