Safety features helped mitigate Hood Industries' on-site explosion
SUMMARY: A minor explosion occurred at Hood Industries in Wayne‘s Burrow, triggered by a dust silo around 3:15 PM on Tuesday. Fire Chief Willard Crocker reported dense smoke and flames, but the fire was extinguished quickly. First responders remained on-site until 7 PM to ensure safety, as sawdust posed a risk for further explosions. The explosion blew out two safety windows, preventing a more significant incident. The cause of the explosion remains under investigation, with no injuries reported, although some vehicles were damaged. Industrial Park Road was temporarily closed but is now open, and operations at Hood Industries have resumed.

Hub City veterans groups leading effort to collect donations for Florida relief
