Runners race to support North Mississippi Medical Center N.I.C.U.
SUMMARY: The Neonatal Intensive Care Unit in Tupelo, Mississippi, hosted its inaugural 5k run to raise funds for the facility. Organized by N.I.C.U. nurse manager Jessica Fears and 5k run enthusiast Callie Craig, the event aimed to support the unit’s “we care room,” which provides snacks, meals, and essential items for parents of infants in the N.I.C.U. The 5k helped alleviate financial pressures on the healthcare fund and nurses’ personal expenses. Over 30 participants, including Andy Bowen and Josh Speyer, enjoyed community bonding, exercise, and socializing, with each runner receiving a T-shirt. The event reinforced community support for the N.I.C.U.
