Rowlett mayor cries foul after early voting site moved to smaller venue

SUMMARY: Blake Margolis of Rette, , criticized Dallas County Elections for reducing early voting locations in the from the previously used community center, which accommodated over 22,000 early voters in the last presidential election, to the less accessible Place Church. This new site offers limited parking, raising concerns about voter suppression, particularly for disabled individuals. Early voting begins on October 21st, with the mayor advocating for the community center’s use, previously informed election of its availability. The Dallas County Elections Department has not provided a rationale for the change. A discussion on polling locations is planned in an upcoming commission meeting.

The Rowlett mayor claims his city is getting shortchanged after the Dallas County Elections Department moved their early voting site to a smaller venue. “This is targeting all of Rowlett voters. It will suppress votes.”
