Routh opposes broad protective order in Trump assassination case | National
SUMMARY: Ryan Wesley Routh, 58, accused of attempting to kill former President Donald Trump during a golf game, opposes a broad protective order sought by prosecutors. His attorneys argue the request is overly restrictive and would infringe upon Routh’s constitutional rights, advocating for a more tailored order similar to those used in other cases. Routh, who has demonstrated a desire for media attention, allegedly published a book calling for Trump’s assassination and expressed intent to communicate with news outlets from jail. He faces charges including attempted assassination and has pleaded not guilty.

Florida sues Garland for blocking state investigation into Trump assassination attempt | Florida
SUMMARY: Florida has filed a lawsuit against U.S. Attorney General Merrick Garland, claiming federal interference in its investigation of the second assassination attempt on former President Donald Trump. Attorney General Ashley Moody argues that the Department of Justice (DOJ) and FBI have violated the Tenth Amendment by blocking the state‘s ability to conduct its own investigation. After the assassination attempt near Trump’s golf club on September 15, Florida Governor Ron DeSantis ordered a state investigation. The lawsuit contends that the federal government‘s directive prevents Florida from interviewing witnesses and fulfilling its legal duties, impacting the potential prosecution.
