Robert Roberson on death row | Justice or misjudment?
SUMMARY: Robert Roberson, sentenced to death for the 2002 murder of his 2-year-old daughter Nikki, is facing imminent execution in Texas. Prosecutors attribute her death to shaken baby syndrome, but Roberson, diagnosed with autism, maintains his innocence. His supporters argue that shaken baby syndrome is largely discredited and cite other potential causes for Nikki’s death, such as pneumonia and opioid use. Recent legal efforts have led to a stay of Roberson’s execution, allowing further hearings to reconsider the evidence. The case highlights concerns over wrongful convictions based on unreliable science, with growing advocacy for Roberson’s exoneration and a new trial.

KHOU 11 sits down with legal expert Carmen Roe to look back at Roberson’s story and where his case stands after his stay of execution.
