SUMMARY: The execution of Texas death row inmate Robert Roberson is in limbo after a Travis County judge issued a temporary restraining order. Roberson, convicted in 2002 of killing his 2-year-old daughter, was set to be executed, but a bipartisan group of lawmakers subpoenaed him to testify next week, questioning the validity of the evidence against him. A civil court judge supported the subpoena, while the US Supreme Court denied a last-minute attempt to halt the execution. Lawmakers raised doubts about the original scientific basis for the conviction, prompting further investigations and protests outside the state prison.

A Travis County judge has issued a temporary injunction that could delay the controversial execution of Robert Roberson. Roberson would be the first person in the U.S. executed for a murder conviction tied to the diagnosis of shaken baby syndrome.
