Ridgeland officer extricated from car after crash
SUMMARY: A Ridgeland police officer was injured in a crash on Interstate 220 North at Interstate 55 on September 25. The officer’s vehicle was rear-ended by a pickup truck, which subsequently overturned. Both the officer and the truck driver were transported to the University of Mississippi Medical Center, with the officer expected to recover. Ridgeland Police Chief Brian Myers reported that the pickup truck driver had no license or insurance and may face DUI charges. The incident is under investigation.

Four women cycle to Natchez Trace for organ donor awareness
SUMMARY: In 2019, Anna Cannington became a living organ donor after learning about someone in need of a kidney. She has since thrived, engaging in weight lifting and cycling. Alongside three other female kidney donors, she embarked on a bike ride titled “4women 4 kidneys 444 miles 4 days,” raising awareness for living organ donation. On September 25, they met Jason Keeton, who is on an eight-year kidney transplant waiting list. He expressed hope that meeting living donors would encourage others to donate. The ride concluded on September 27, but efforts to promote awareness continue on social media.

Three Vicksburg men charged in drive-by shooting
SUMMARY: Three men from Vicksburg, Willie Johnson (49), Jermaine Johnson (46), and Calbert Cosby (22), were arrested on September 26 in relation to a shooting that took place on June 7.
