Trump endorses Mississippi’s Hyde-Smith heading into 2026 midterms

Jackson road renamed in honor of late restaurateur Hal White
SUMMARY: A stretch of downtown Jackson has been renamed “Hal White Way” in honor of the late Hal White, co-founder of the iconic Hal & Mal’s restaurant. The renaming ceremony took place on March 21, 2025, with family, friends, and city officials in attendance. Hal & Mal’s, founded in 1984, has long been a cultural hub in Jackson. The new street name connects the restaurant to downtown, serving as a lasting tribute to Hal’s legacy. Hal’s brother, Malcolm White, and widow, Ann White, shared heartfelt memories during the unveiling. Hal’s St. Paddy’s Day Parade, created in 1983, was also renamed in his memory in 2016.
