SUMMARY: During a committee meeting, members questioned a representative about a request for information sent on July 15th. They inquired whether the Secret Service had provided a complete list of law enforcement personnel present on that day. The representative responded that they would need to check, indicating a “no” answer. Additionally, the committee asked if all audio and video recordings had been submitted as requested; again, they received a vague response, suggesting a lack of transparency. Frustrated, a committee member accused the representative of dishonesty in their responses.

SUMMARY: Chatham County, Ga. is hosting a free expungement clinic to help individuals with minor criminal records take advantage of Georgia’s 2020 “Second Chance law.” This law allows over 1.5 million people to potentially seal their records, particularly for minor offenses like traffic violations and nonviolent misdemeanors. Serious crimes, including felonies and domestic violence, remain ineligible for expungement. The event, held at Live Oak Library’s Southwest Branch from 11 a.m. to 6 p.m., aims to assist those facing barriers in employment and education due to their records. It is open to eligible residents on a first-come, first-served basis.
