Meridian Public School District tries to prevent dropouts, encourage attendance
SUMMARY: A public school district is focused on preventing student dropouts by addressing chronic absenteeism, defined as missing two days of school each month. This status increases dropout risk, often due to factors beyond a student’s control, like transportation and living conditions. The district is dedicated to ensuring students are aware of available resources to overcome barriers to attendance. Additionally, the district has introduced career academics to motivate students and prepare them for college, further emphasizing the importance of regular attendance and support for those facing challenges.
